Mr. Miller: Please understand that your stance on refusing water deliveries south of the pumps is truly hurting humans. In a time when human hardship is historically high, it is much worse in the cities of the West Side of the San Joaquin Valley.

Mendota, Firebaugh, Cantua Creek, Coalinga, Huron, and many other communities, Depression era-like food lines are helping to keep the citizens in these areas fed.

How do you truly feel about this. Do you really think the smelt are more important than humans?

Yes, Yes, Yes---We know the pumps are indeed turned back on since July 1. We know the water can flow after the fish spawning period. But none of that water is going to farmers. It's not helping the communities reeling from the 10 percent deliveries this spring and early summer. We know that water is going to be turned off again in the near future leaving the valley without its life blood.

We need a reasonable and rationable approach to the dire problem that not only effects the Central Valley, but Southern California as well--and soon he Bay Area.

There is no evidence that the pumps are killing the smelt. Turning them off is not helping the smelt. Predator fish, high concentrations of ammonia from partially treated sewage water is doing he damage. Please look at the whole picture instead of just at farming.

Think about how a change in your heart can be so good for thousands of people.

You can do it Mr. Miller. Many will be grateful.
